February 2020: Cancer Research UK

Once again, this month has seen our fantastic employees raising money from dress-down Friday’s! We’ve had lots of amazing charity submissions and the selected one for February was Cancer Research UK, from our Sheffield Branch Manager Paul Harcourt!

Paul suggested Cancer Research UK because he has had personal experience with the huge impact that Cancer can have on lives, unfortunately losing his mum after a battle with Pancreatic Cancer. He’s also seen his mother in law battle Breast Cancer, and thanks to research and advancements in treatment she managed to beat it!

We’re sure everyone has experience of the devastating effect that cancer can have. It’s currently predicted that 1 in 2 people will get Cancer during their lives. Thanks to great advancements in research from charities such as Cancer Research UK, survival rates have doubled in the last 40 years - meaning that more people than ever are surviving cancer.

Well done everyone for their fantastic fundraising efforts and thanks to Paul for such a great suggestion – it’s definitely a very worthy cause!
